Professional Learning for Nonprofit Leaders

Professional learning provides nonprofit leaders with the skills and knowledge needed to communicate challenges, create solutions, and lead with confidence.

At DevoCenter we encourage deep reflection and conversations on love, learning, and community-building. We focus on preparing leaders to set and achieve goals, process feedback, and reflect on their progress. This process helps entrepreneurs gain the experience and perspective needed to build meaningful organizations that are aligned to their values and programmatic vision.

Our nonprofit leaders create bio’s, budgets and logic models that represent their intention to transform their communities in meaningful and measurable ways. Together we are designing operational strategies, promotional messaging and program proposals that are thoughtful, actionable and sustainable. It’s our intention to prepare women for nonprofit entrepreneurship and inspire them to think differently about the ways that we live and work.

Research Results and Peer to Peer Mental Health Supports for Female Student Athletes

In the Spring of 2024 Erika Perry, on behalf of YouthTalk United, visited 4 high schools and surveyed 136 female athletes, ages 13-18 in Jefferson County Alabama. The site visits revealed gaps in mental health education, and highlighted the need to empower students and reinforce positive thinking. Surveyed students self-reported their overall mental well-being, and while the results were encouraging they also revealed a significant number of participants who could benefit from a more positive and empowered mindset. YouthTalk United has developed a Peer-to-Peer Program in response to the data and following student requests for ongoing support. The program aims to improve the overall well-being of female student athletes and their success in both sports and life. Learn more about the program and research results.
