Marcy Scholarship Fund Scholarships and Mentoring

Marcy Houses Memorial Scholarship Fund exists to encourage and motivate post-secondary students from the Marcy Houses in Brooklyn, NY, and strategize with them to complete a course of study.

Their vision is higher education, economic achievement and social well-being for all Marcy Houses students. In service of this vision, they provide financial support and mentorship to first and second year college or trade school students who live in Marcy Houses.

DevoCenter founder Charlene Turner grew up in the Marcy Housing Projects and was excited about partnering with Marcy Houses Memorial Scholarship Fund to help revamp their mentorship program, prepare a proposal package and identify funding opportunities. We spent 60 hours over 2 months and delivered: a) complete proposal package, b) grant opportunities report, c) leadership plan of action. With DevoCenters help the nonprofit was awarded $25K in the State Farm Neighborhood Assist Competition.
