I’m grateful for new partnerships and relationships that contribute to my personal and professional development, and I’m happy with our progress towards delivering programs that support and empower nonprofit entrepreneurs. - Charlene

Zoom Meetup for Women in Nonprofits

Nonprofit Storytelling: Share Your Vision, Mission and Programs

How do you describe your organizations vision and the work that you do? Learn how excellent bios, budgets, and logic models prepare you for successful fundraising.

Join us June 8th at 7pm est.


Mastermind for Women in Community Service

Join us for year-round professional learning, accountability and networking for women in community service roles. Together we explore and embrace the knowledge, skills and mindsets needed to manage sustainable businesses, deliver meaningful programs, and prepare for valuable partnerships.

Members will:

  • develop proposals, project plans, budgets and fundraising strategies for community service programs

  • meet monthly with a nonprofit advisor and other leaders to discuss progress, challenges and opportunities

  • access videos, tools and resources for nonprofit leaders in our digital library


Changemakers Making Moves

DevoCenter Changemakers are enthusiastic, connected their causes, and dedicated to learning that uplifts and prepares young people for success.

Aynda Kanyama-Jackson has been busy preparing high school students for college and for life through Afrikan-centered education at Tamu Sana Kanyama Preparatory Academy and organizing the No Stones Name of The Game Chess in Real Life Student League in Atlanta Georgia.

Catisha Toney provides college and career counseling services to students in Gary Indiana and surrounding areas. At Coates Inc she’s concerned with providing early exposure to post-secondary opportunities and traveling school to school in the Coates Mobile Office to help young people complete college, financial aid, and 21st Century Scholar applications.

Erika Perry is mentoring youth and organizing volunteers for Youth Talk United in Birmingham Alabama. YTU provides young people with the support and life skills they need to face challenges and transition smoothly into adulthood. Through mentorship, counseling, community service and team sports, the organization is helping young people manage their emotions and express themselves in positive ways.


DevoCenter Leadership

We are happy to have women who represent a diversity of thought and experiences, contributing to our organization's growth, innovation, and success.

Charlene Turner is the founder and Executive Director for DevoCenter for Service-Learning. She has 20 years of experience in human resources and more than 10 years management level service and consulting to educational nonprofits.

Nicole Marshall is a founding board member and certified special education teacher at Manning Elementary School in South Carolina. She has spent more than 20 years as a caretaker and learning specialist and is dedicated to youth development and celebrating women.

Charito Solano is a DevoCenter founding board member and Proposal Manager for Bank of America. She is committed to supporting women and causes for youth in Charlotte North Carolina, and is looking forward to getting involved with fundraising and encouraging community engagement.

Maura Schiefelbein is Senior Vice President, People at accesso. She joined the DevoCenter board of directors in January of this year and offers her enthusiasm for women-led businesses and her experience with team building and leadership.

Jasmine Sims is a Senior Manager and Head of Strategic Services at Vanguard. She also joined the board in January and is excited to support our efforts to champion entrepreneurship, team-building, and results-driven action plans.

Jaimie P. Cloud has been an Executive Advisor with DevoCenter since its founding in 2019. She is a nonprofit founder and Executive Director for The Cloud Institute for Sustainability Education and offers insight into sustainable entrepreneurship, curriculum development and education for adult learners.
